🏃 This morning, after a relaxed, chilled-out breakfast, our adventure into the lush and green rainforest of Costa Rica begins! We drive on a scenic forest route through some hilly slopes to see the sloths in their natural wild home. During the guided 2-hour hike with an English-speaking guide, the trail will allow us to enjoy a gallery forest with tropical vegetation and giant trees such as Chilamate and Guácimo Colorad. It is also the habitat of many other species, such as small cute opossums, birds like toucans and royal flycatchers. But the main attractions are the two- and three-toed sloths!

After saying goodbye to the sloths and if we have some extra time, we will drive up to a geothermal area known for its relaxing hot springs. We can enjoy the natural energy that surges from the veins of the nearby Arenal Volcano and heats the thermal pools from 32°C to 41° C (90°F to 106° F). Together with the cool water pools and waterfall, we will have some time to enjoy a relaxing hydromassage before continuing our drive. Our dinner as well as the entrance fee to the thermal bath are included.

Post dinner, we continue our drive, and in about 1.5 hours, we will reach our rainforest eco lodge, where we can enjoy the rest of the day and chill out together with a drink while listening to the sounds of the rainforest. We stay two nights in a rainforest retreat, where everyone has their own private rooms.

🏃 After a sleep-in, we will enjoy a traditional breakfast with views of the Sarapiqui River. Lunch time will be free to enjoy the area around the retreat, where the river meanders beautifully along the green shores of the rainforest and bridges cross over here and there to have multiple unique views. I am sure we will be able to spot a lot of smaller and bigger animals here as well.

Around late lunchtime, we drive to a nearby village to visit a local family for a traditional Costa Rican cooking class! If there are vegetarians in our group, we will try to accommodate everyone. Our lunch will be eaten on site after we prepare it together.

The evening is free to enjoy and chill out because the activities do not stop here for the day! After dinner and sometime between 6 and 8 p.m., our experienced naturalist guide will pick us up to do a special night walk. A favorite find on the night walk are the red-eyed tree frogs and the kinkajou, a tropical rainforest mammal that looks a bit like a monkey with a very long cat tail. The night walk takes about 2 hours.

We stay one more night in a rainforest retreat and depart for San Jose the next morning after a late breakfast.

🏃 After a late breakfast, we depart for the capital city of Costa Rica, San José! We shall reach San Jose after about 3 hours, but we will make several photo stops along the way as well.

And now, welcome to San Jose! We are now really in the heart of the country of Pura Vida, a friendly, multicultural, and multilingual culture descended from the fusion of immigrants, including Africans, Chinese, Jews, Lebanese, and Italians, and the indigenous peoples of the Bribrí, Cabécar, Maleku, Teribe, Boruca, Ngabe, Huetar, and Chorotega groups. It means that the cuisine will be as delicious, colorful, and interesting as all the cultures combined!

In Costa Rica, we check in at our 4-star hotel in the city center and have some time to unwind.

In the late afternoon, we meet our local English-speaking guide to learn more about Costa Rica`s cuisine and nightlife! On our private 4-hour trip through the night in the capital, including a 3-course dinner with a glass of wine or beer, we will learn about post-colonial Costa Rican history and hear stories about the traditions and habits of the locals.

We spend the next three nights in San Jose in a comfortable 4-star hotel with breakfast.

🏃 Today we embark early, as it is one of our only two early starts on this tour: the magical beaches of Tortuga Island are on the agenda! In the beautiful Gold of Nicoya, we sail through the clear blue waters aboard a catamaran, where we have good chances of spotting dolphins on our way to the island. Upon arrival, we will receive snorkeling equipment, and those who wish can join the group to explore the underwater world or just chill in the sun on deck.

Once we reach the island, we have the rest of the day (approximately 5 hours) to relax and enjoy the beach under palm trees.

🏃 A guide and driver picked us up from the hotel today, and we drive to our first destination, a real active coffee plantation. If you are not a fan of early breakfasts or mornings, you can enjoy a delicious typical breakfast here, as we will have enough time to explore the plantation and the area with our guide. We will learn about the entire process of harvesting, fermentation, roasting, and exporting coffee. We will also have a delicious tasting of chocolate, liquor, and coffee.

After a stop at the plantation, we tour the famous Poás Volcano National Park at an altitude of 2,575 meters above sea level! Our tour will take us to see the second-largest crater in the world, the Poás Volcano. It is the most active volcano in Costa Rica and is currently in an eruption period, which means it will be possible to see sulfuric acid fumaroles and its beautiful turquoise lagoon.

Our last great visit on this tour includes an area where we find the five largest waterfalls in Costa Rica. The La Paz Waterfall Gardens is the best part of the tour. This beautiful park has one of the most beautiful trails in the country, where we can see more than 110 species of rescued wild mammals, such as jaguars and pumas, monkeys, and hummingbirds. We will have time to enjoy the beautiful panoramic views and also walk behind the La Paz waterfall. Definitely get your bikini and waterproof camera ready for this one!

In the late afternoon, we reach our hotel and can rest up, meet for drinks at the bar, or enjoy a chubbing night if anyone just has spare energy left! We'll decide in the group.

A shuttle from the hotel to the airport will be arranged for you, depending on your time of departure.
